OIG Plain Writing Pledge

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Office of Inspector General is committed to improving the services that we provide to the public by writing in plain language. President Obama signed the Plain Writing Act of 2010 on October 13, 2010. That Act requires every Federal agency to write so “that the public can understand and use” it and to  adopt a plain writing program.

Plain writing is clear, concise, and well organized, and it can be understood the first time you read it. We have a responsibility to make our work as transparent as possible by adhering to the standards of the Plain Writing Act of 2010

It is our pledge to provide you with information that is clear, understandable, and useful in every paper or electronic letter, publication, form, notice, or instruction we publish. This pledge is in keeping with our long-standing commitment to provide you with the information you need from us.
