President Obama signed the Plain Writing Act of 2010 on October 13, 2010. That Act requires every Federal agency to write so “that the public can understand and use” it and to adopt a plain writing program.
Plain writing is clear, concise, and well organized, and it can be understood the first time you read it. We have a responsibility to make our work as transparent as possible by adhering to the standards of the Plain Writing Act of 2010
